As a person living with HIV disease in Wisconsin you have certain legal rights. These rights are designed to protect you from discrimination, assure your confidentiality and guarantee that you cannot be denied health care.  However, even with these strong Wisconsin laws, many HIV patients still face discrimination, denial of benefits and even the refusal of health care providers to provide them with treatment.

    • If you have experienced discrimination or unfair treatment in employment, housing, public facilities, or in other ways, because you have HIV, an ARCW attorney will work with you to explore all of the legal options available to you.  Our attorneys can also represent you in working to resolve the issue and stop the discrimination.
  • Refusal to Treat
    • If you have been refused health care services by a physician or other health care provider because you have HIV disease, an ARCW attorney will meet with you to discuss the legal remedies available to you and help resolve the matter. ARCW attorneys can represent you in a legal action to help ensure you receive the health care services you need.
  • Power of Attorney for Health Care/Advance Directives
    • An ARCW attorney will help you prepare a document that appoints someone you trust to be your health care agent in the event that you are unable to make your own health care decisions due to severe illness. Your health care agent will be empowered to make health care decisions for you so that health care providers will carry out your wishes.
  • Confidentiality Breach
