The medical care you receive at the ARCW Medical Clinic is the most advanced care and is specially developed and customized to meet your personal health care needs.

As a patient at the ARCW Medical Clinic you are part of one of the most unique HIV health care centers in the country. It is your HIV medical home with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, mental health therapists, lawyers, nutritionists and case managers all working with you to make sure that all of your needs are met.

In addition to expert HIV medical care, you will also receive outstanding primary care for the diagnosis and treatment of other general health and chronic health conditions you may have. For other health conditions that require specialty trained providers, you will receive the finest specialty care at the ARCW Medical Center and through our referral system to experienced specialists.

Our medical care is patient centered and focused on meeting your needs. Your medical team will include your choice of a physician or nurse practitioner, your choice of a male or female provider, a registered nurse and a medical case manager. They are experts in HIV care and will work closely with you to establish the most advanced course of treatment giving you the greatest opportunity for treatment success.

Your medical team will work with you to coordinate the following medical services to meet your unique health care needs:

  • Laboratory tests
  • Diagnosis of your HIV status
  • HIV medications from the ARCW Pharmacy
  • Adherence support for HIV medications
  • Evaluations for dental, behavioral and social service needs
  • Diagnosis and treatment of other health conditions

In addition to the HIV specialty and primary health care services you receive at the ARCW Medical Clinic you also may access several important health care services.

  • Immunizations
    • The ARCW Medical Clinic offers immunizations for many communicable diseases including hepatitis A and B. We provide annual flu shots beginning every fall prior to the start of the flu season.
  • Primary and preventive health
    • The ARCW Medical Clinic provides HIV patients with primary and preventive health care designed to keep patients as healthy as possible. These services include preforming or providing referrals for screenings of other medical conditions and chronic illnesses such as Pap smears, choloesterol and lipid tests, mammograms, colonoscopy and eye exams.
  • HIV testing
    • ARCW conducts over 2,000 HIV tests every year. We offer both anonymous and confidential tests at the ARCW Medical Clinic and through our HIV prevention outreach services. We use the rapid HIV antibody test that provides a preliminary result in 20 minutes.
    • If your test is positive for HIV the ARCW Medical Clinic will conduct a confirmatory test and you may immediately enroll for expert HIV treatment.
  • Hepatitis testing and treatment
    • Hepatitis A and B are viral infections of the liver that are most often acquired through sexual activity. Hepatitis C is a viral infection of the liver most often acquired when needles are shared during injection drug use. Hepatitis infections are serious conditions that require immediate treatment.
      The ARCW Medical Clinic offers testing for all hepatitis infections. We provide prevention vaccinations and treatment for hepatitis A and B. ARCW also provides access to cures for hepatitis C  patients infected with HIV.  Treatment is essential to avoid severe liver damage and potential death. However, the ARCW Medical Clinic provides the most advanced treatment for hepatitis C patients.
  • Sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment
    • Sexually transmitted infections (STIs, formerly known as STDs) are infections acquired through sexual activity that are most often easily cured if they are discovered early and treated. The ARCW Medical Clinic offers screenings, tests and treatment for: Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, Herpes, HPV or warts.
